the Rock: Team Spider (9:00 pm)
record release for the punk bike riders

Born on the Lower East Side of Manhattan TEAM SPIDER have been rocking Squats, punk clubs and large outdoor festivals for the last five years. Their D.I.Y. attitude has produced 4 EPs, 3 DVDs, and a long running Manhattan Cable Access / Cable Modem TV show known as TEAM SPIDER TELEVISION. The members of the band are avid bicyclists and First Amendment defenders. Violinist Ben and Guitarist Xris met in the back of a NYPD paddy wagon after they both were arrested for riding Critical Mass bike rides.

Team Spider has a new album out - check it out

The Rock: Twice as Bright (9:45 pm)
from the artist formerly known as Hoy

NYC band Twice As Bright is an even more caffeinated and lush version of singer Greg Hoy's guitar chordal pop rock fury. Still 'fortified with hooks that bounce through your head (Punk Planet)', Hoy's new songs dig deeper into the 60's and 70's rock archives, at times recalling a punked-up Neil Young or a less dramatic Queen. The band's 'clear-eyed rock is fueled by straight-up melodicism (Time Out NY)' but the new T.A.B. record reveals whirling piano to the rock-fuzz sound, coming this fall from White Shoe Records.

Twice as Bright is on Myspace...

The Rock: Lord Classic (10:30 pm)
Marsupial Rock... we can't get enough!

Like pure cracoteine from the mucousedy eyes of Avuamian munchkin cats. Lord Classic makes your drink taste laced. It's eclectic, its real, it's rock, grunge, indie, pop, it's durge music. See and hear more at www.lordclassic.com

    Lord Classic... be their friend!

The Rock: the Nillaz (11:15 pm)
    bringing the crunk to punk

New York City's The Nillaz are Crunk Rock. The pioneers of a futuristic sound best described as a rugged mix of punk rock and crunk rap - imagine Lil' Jon fused with Minor Threat or D4L twisted through Nirvana - The Nillaz are poised for a breakout year. Since their founding in 2003, The group, fronted by vocalists JaVa and Ill-On with musical prodigy Ethos Forbes leading the band, have harnessed the parallel energies of punk and crunk and flipped them into the first musical style to cross over from both sides. The Nillaz toured the nation in 2005 and 2006 on the Vans Warped Tours, and tore up showcases at CMJ in 2004 and 2006 and SxSW in 2005. Throughout their travels, they've shared the stage with a a multitude of acts including Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, My Chemical Romance, The Transplants, Run DMC, Spank Rock, Gogol Bordello, and Joan Jett. Addicts for the stage, The Nillaz have been known to up-stage their better known tour mates, and have developed a legion of Nillaz fans from around the world who come from far and wide to tear it up Nillaz Style. Though they produce most of their own music, The Nillaz have also collaborated with producers Megahertz (Nas, Busta Rhymes,) U.F. Low (Si*Se,) and the late Disco D (50 Cent, Trick Daddy.) Ferocious booth monsters known for turning recording sessions into a party, The Nillaz have a knack for taking any listener's mind off of the boredom of everyday life and to the party with them Starting 2007 with a shotgun blast, The Nillaz are back in the studio recording the follow-up to their 2005 self-titled debut. 'Fire it up and grab a 40, these boyz are out to destroy.'

    Cool Site: Downhill Battle
We're all about indies. These guys are even more....

Want to piss off your friends who work for major labels? Wear a t-shirt supporting these guys, activists for change...

If you remember Grey Tuesday, you can skip to the link. If not, this is a great website to educate yourself on the politics of music... Here's what they say for themselves: Downhill Battle is a non-profit organization working to break the major label monopoly of the record industry and put control back in the hands of musicians and fans. Downhill Battle launched in August 2003 to create a public voice that could counter the distortions of the RIAA and the major record labels. Downhill Battle is a collaborative project and we work with musicians, music fans, artists, and designers around the world. There is a core group of people working full-time, based in Worcester, MA. We see an unprecedented opportunity to create a decentralized music business and a level playing field for independent musicians and labels. We're doing everything we can to make that happen. Join the revolution... or at least learn something.
